Extra shelter beds are being provided at the King County Administration Building through Wednesday night during the ongoing winter storm.

The Jefferson Day Center at Fourth Avenue and Jefferson Street in downtown Seattle will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, and residents can call 211 to find the nearest available shelter. All King County Metro buses are on snow routes and many buses are running behind schedule, a press release from the county said.

All nonessential King County offices are closed today, which is also the deadline for in-person voter registration for the February special election. Registration can be instead sent to elections@kingcounty.gov or by phone at 206-296-1565. A winter storm warning is in effect until 1 p.m. for King County east of Lake Washington, and a winter weather advisory is in effect for the entire county.

Temperatures are expected to reach up to freezing, with overnight lows falling into the teens, and wind chills could reduce them further to single digits. Travel will be difficult through Tuesday morning. Waste Management has additionally suspended all residential service across western Washington, and power outages have been reported due to the snowstorm.
